I Hate School

I hate school because I usually want to go to sleep because the classes I have are so boring, but I still manage to keep my grades up and not go to sleep. My first period class is Spanish 1 but I have fun in that class because the teacher that I have is so interesting and makes you think when you bring up any subject. My second period class is JJ he is cool and a mellow teacher he helps you out a lot in math and he is really smart. My third period class is Ms Davis she is fun but sometimes too argumentative and almost never wants to just teach and have fun. Mr. Walker is my history teacher he is cool when he wants to be but also is strict and expects perfection in almost all your papers. Ms. Priester is a hard teacher she wants to make you pass all the quarters and not make you fell the class at all. My sixed period class is fun my teacher is Kate she is a fun and caring person and she knows how to teach you how to break down word for you to understand.

Fourth Quarter Goals 2008

This quarter, I will try to keep an A or B in Ms Priester’s class. In order to achieve this, I will not fail to turn in any assignments and I will not guess in any of my tests or homework’s.

This quarter, I will try not to get kicked out of Ms Priester’s class for the rest of the school year. In order to achieve this, I will not say any foul language and I will accept any consequence Ms Priester gives me for the things I do without arguing or disrespecting.

This quarter, I will have at least one higher grade than all of last quarter for all of my classes and try not to have a D or any F. In order to achieve this, I will stay on task in every class and ask for any extra credit when I really need it.

Response to President Obama

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama said the following in his State of the Nation Address to Congress:
“In a global economy where the most valuable skill you can sell is your knowledge, a good education is no longer just a pathway to opportunity – it is a prerequisite.

It is our responsibility as lawmakers and as educators to make this system work. But it is the responsibility of every citizen to participate in it. So tonight, I ask every American to commit to at least one year or more of higher education or career training. . . . And dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It's not just quitting on yourself, it's quitting on your country – and this country needs and values the talents of every American.

These education policies will open the doors of opportunity for our children. But it is up to us to ensure they walk through them. In the end, there is no program or policy that can substitute for a parent – a mother or father who will attend those parent/teacher conferences, or help with homework after dinner, or turn off the TV, put away the video games, and read to their child. I speak to you not just as a president, but as a father when I say that responsibility for our children's education must begin at home.”

This quote really inspires me because now I know that I can use my knowledge to make money and use it also to teach people that didn't get to go to school and show them what I have learned in the past years. Also it inspires me but the only thing I don't like is the fact that all of our country has to suffer because some people don't go to school and because of that we look bad as a country because of our ability of knowledge. Also I like the fact that he said that the parents have to be there to help the kids for there homework and to turn off the television and to take the video games away.

Poetry Sound

At first, I thought rhyme was some words that have the same sound, but I learned that rhyme is the repetition of the sound the stress vowel and any sound that follows in word that are close together.

An example of a poem with end rhyme is below.  The title is Fireworks, and the author is Amy Lowell. The rhyme scheme is AABB

On my poetry pretest, I was way below grade-level. On my posttest, I hope that I will be advanced in my grade-level.

At first, I thought imagery was something that you imagined but I learned that this was wrong.  Actually, imagery is something that appeals to the five senses.  I also learned about figurative language. I used to think figurative language a speech of a president but I learned that figurative language is a word or phrase that describes on thing in terms of another and is meant to be understood on a literal level. The three main types of figurative language are metaphor, simile and personification.
